On a daily basis, technical operations personnel review logs created by the back-up scripts to ensure that back-ups have run successfully. If weekly full back-up jobs do not run successfully, they are automatically rescheduled. If the back-up was not successful, that information along with review of the problem and confirmation of successful re-run is attached to an incident report. Daily incremental back-ups are monitored on a daily basis and any repeat failures are investigated and resolved. These failures are also attached to an incident report, along with results of problem review and resolution.
Annually, the back-up policies are reviewed for adequacy and completeness. This review considers the service delivery needs, as determined in conjunction with the business owners, within the organization and whether they have changed sufficiently to require more frequent and stringent back-up requirements.
