Human Resource Planning?

Human resource planning identifies the existing status of human resources in the organization and then attempts to match demand and supply so as to make them compatible with the fulfillment of the organizational future needs.

Human resource planning is the process by which an organization ensures that it has the right number and right quality of people, at the right place, at the right time capable of effectively and efficiently completing those tasks that will help the organization in achieving its overall objectives.

Human resource planning helps to provide adequate human resources to achieve current and future organizational objectives. It is most directly related to recruitment, selection, training and promotion. By matching employment supply and demand, the organization can know how many persons of what quality it needs to fill from within.
The actual human resource management starts with the estimation of the number and the type of people needed. The human resource management process never stops. It is an ongoing process that tries to keep the organization supplied with the right positions at the right time. Human resources planning are a sub-system of this process.
