Kindness | Inspirational Story

KIndness ia a nature of human being so so i thought to share with you a beautiful story of kindness which i just got in my mail box early in the morning..

The story goes as He was driving home one evening, on a two-lane country road. Work, in this small mid-western community, was almost as slow as his beat-up Pontiac. But he never quit looking. Ever since the Levis factory closed, he’d been unemployed, and with winter raging on, the chill had finally hit home. It was a lonely road. Not very many people had a reason to be on it, unless they were leaving. Most of his friends had already left. They had families to feed and dreams to fulfill. But he stayed on. After all, this was where he buried his mother and father. He was born here and knew the country.

He could go down this road blind, and tell you what was on either side, and with his headlights not working, that came in handy. It was starting to get dark and light snow flurries were coming down. He’d better get a move on. You know, he almost didn’t see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road. But even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her.

Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn’t look safe, he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that chill that only fear can put in you. He said, “I’m here to help you m’am. Why don’t you wait in the car where it’s warm. By the way, my name is Joe.”

Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough Joe crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt. As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down her window and began to talk to him. She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through. She couldn’t thank him enough for coming to her aid. Joe just smiled as he closed her trunk.

She asked him how much she owed him. Any amount would have been alright with her. She had already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped. Joe never thought twice about the money. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need and there were plenty who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way. He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the assistance that they needed, and Joe added “…and think of me”.

He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home, disappearing into the twilight. A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The cash register was like the telephone of an out of work actor, it didn’t ring much.

Her waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn’t erase. The lady noticed that the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she remembered Joe.

After the lady finished her meal, and the waitress went to get her change from a hundred dollar bill, the lady slipped right out the door. She was gone by the time the waitress came back. She wondered where the lady could be, then she noticed something written on a napkin. There were tears in her eyes, when she read what the lady wrote. It said, “You don’t owe me a thing, I’ve been there too. Someone once helped me out, the way I’m helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here’s what you do. Don’t let the chain of love end with you.”

Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written. How could she have known how much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard. She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low, “Everything’s gonna be alright, I love you Joe.”

Though correspondence MBA does not require students to do their compulsory internship, there is extensive project work that a student is expected to complete. Executive MBA (EMBA)
The Executive MBA is usually directed towards professionals who are looking to update the general management skills and prepare themselves for career advancement opportunities.

What really sets the eMBA apart from many other MBA programs is the level of experience and insights that students bring to the program. In most executive MBA programs students' professional experience and expertise becomes an integral part of the curriculum. The Executive MBA truly offers a level of education not obtained in any other setting.

The Executive MBA is typically completed during the evenings or on weekends over a two year period.

Loyalty management

I was trying to find out what does this loyalty management means then i got a help from a good website which was trying to explain it meaning which i wish to share with you all

Loyalty Management Tools grow a business's revenues and profits by improving retention among its customers, employees and investors. Loyalty programs measure and track the loyalty of those groups, diagnose the root causes of defection among them, and develop ways not only to boost their allegiance but turn them into advocates for the company. Loyalty Management quantifiably links financial results to changes in retention rates, maintaining that even small shifts in retention can yield significant changes in company profit performance and growth.

Service Level Management

Agreements between the provider and consumer of IT services exist within many organizations, yet in some they are unofficial, taken for granted, or unclear to one or both parties involved.
Review and preparation of SLAs is a primary activity of the Service Level Management SMF. Capacity management also helps define OLAs that result from service level requirements. IT must prioritize service alerts and countermeasures to prevent degradation of performance before it affects availability. Capacity management interacts closely with service level, availability, service continuity, and financial management staffs to decide on the cost-justified proactive measures required to improve the quality of service.

Demand Management

Demand Management is Responsible for ensuring that the future business requirements for IT services are considered, planned, and implemented in a timely manner. The capacity management staff can achieve this by analyzing current resource utilization of the various IT solutions and generating trends and forecasts. These future requirements come from account management, which constantly probes current and future customer needs.

Capital Management

lets see what does capital management means ,

Capacity management is a function of IT operations that provides guidance on how to plan, justify, and manage appropriate levels of resources needed for a given solution. Improper planning for capacity can lead to wasted resources resulting in unnecessary cost, or lack of resources resulting in poor performance or the unavailability of an IT service.

Brainstorm in Three Easy Steps

Wow!!! how beautiful this concepts and strategies are for management .In my past post I had explained you about brainstorming but ow i thought I should simply it more..
Whether you've run out of inspiration or simply want to refine a good idea, a freewriting session might be the best way to get your best thoughts on the page. "I've seen people use it to create a strategic direction for their company, brainstorm ideas for a personal branding campaign, plan a product launch, think through employee engagement problems, rehearse ways of handling a negotiation, write books and blog posts, and more," says Mark Levy at the Compelling blog.

When you sit down with the sole purpose of writing whatever crosses your mind, you're able to override the internal editor that keeps you sounding smart, confident and consistent—usually by killing risky, daring, original thoughts before you've had the chance to finish a sentence.

To keep your internal editor in check, Levy offers this advice:

Set a time limit. Your freewriting session might last for as few as five minutes, or as long as half an hour. "When the timer starts," explains Levy, "you start.

Don't pause. If your mind goes blank, write about your mind going blank. If you're frustrated by the choppiness of your thoughts, write about that.

Write at a swift rate. "Your fingers needn't fly over the keyboard," he says. "They just need to move at a clip slightly quicker than your norm." This faster-than-usual pace will help to keep that internal editor at bay.

Social Media ?

We all use social media and to what extend we should be open in our social media accounts..There are many questions that we need to answer or need an advice
ne of the challenges facing businesses today is deciding how open to be in online communities.

Well, here's some good news: Openness in social media can vary. Businesses can start slow in online communities, hold back a bit and open up over time—the way people do in human relationships.

Here's some help: To provide a useful starting point for measuring where you are vs. where you want to be in social media, the Community Roundtable has put together The Community Maturity Model. The four-stage chart helps you pinpoint where your company is in terms of network openness.

Here are a few points to keep in mind when using the model:

You can't go from Stage 1 to Stage 4 overnight, and users aren't expecting you to. It's enough to be clear about what you are, and aren't, comfortable doing.
The degree to which you're open should reflect the degree to which your company culture is already open. Otherwise, it'll be tough rounding up the troops to champion community collaboration outside the enterprise.
The model also shows you how to integrate collaboration inside your company. Try it out.
Bottom line: It pays to be strategic about your progression toward a more network-oriented corporate culture. It's best to do it in steps, so your online social-community efforts will stick—and feel genuine.

Power of the mind

The mind is recognised as the main factor governing our entire life. We can even say that the mind is the basis of life and that the body extends externally from this basis in the manifest dimension. The experience of the manifest nature, the knowledge of the manifest world, is the superficial extension of the mind. The world of name, form and idea, the world of senses and objects, is the external experience and manifestation of mind. The world of spirit, of psychic experiences and knowledge is the internal manifestation of the mind.
In the yogic tradition, the mind has been given a place of high importance and all the practices of yoga evolve around managing the mind. The second sutra of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras says that yoga is control of the mental patterns, and this is what people generally understand yoga to be. But the first sutra is of the utmost importance: "Yoga is a form of discipline." Here Patanjali brings our attention to the aspect of discipline, not only mental or internal, but also physical, social and external. As a result of that acquired discipline he says that it becomes possible to control the modifications of the mind, and after that it becomes possible to realise the inner nature.
These three statements are of the utmost importance in the yogic system. In fact the systems of Hatha and Raja Yoga, and the other systems of yoga, revolve around them. We can come to a conclusion that firstly, yoga is a form of discipline which we must try to develop in our lives, and that secondly, we have to learn how to manage our mental expressions and experiences.

Mind Management

Paramahamsa Satyananda has defined yoga as the gift of peace for humanity. In our own way we are all trying to experience the state of peace and harmony in our lives, but in this search we come across certain problems. We do not know the reason for disturbance, in our lives and, therefore, we cannot discover how to attain peace.
Peace and harmony are states of mind and there are many factors which can disturb the equilibrium of the mind. Without dealing with the disturbed states of mind, we are trying to find a method to attain peace externally. It is here that yoga comes in with definite concepts about the human personality. Yoga say that instead of isolating ourselves from the mind, we should try to discover the reason for the imbalance within ourselves, and then we will find peace very easily. With this idea in mind, yoga has evolved the different practices of Raja Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, etc.

Promotion Strategy | story

A beautiful Story that i got in my mail box today which tries to explain the promotion process or i can say how to get promoted or why undeserved is promoted more easily which i wish to share wiht you all so here goes the story

It's a fine sunny day in the forest and a lion is sitting outside his cave, lying lazily in the sun. Along comes a fox, out on a walk. Fox: "Do you know the time, because my watch is broken" Lion: "Oh, I can easily fix the watch for you" Fox: "Hmm... But it's a very complicated mechanism, and your big claws will only destroy it even more“
Lion: "Oh no, give it to me, and it will be fixed" Fox: "That's ridiculous! Any fool knows that lazy lions with great claws cannot fix complicated watches" Lion: "Sure they do, give it to me and it will be fixed"
The lion disappears into his cave, and after a while he comes back with the watch which is running perfectly. The fox is impressed, and the lion continues to lie lazily in the sun, looking very pleased with himself.
Soon a wolf comes along and stops to watch the lazy lion in the sun. Wolf: "Can I come and watch TV tonight with you, because mine is broken" Lion: "Oh, I can easily fix your TV for you" Wolf: "You don't expect me to believe such rubbish, do you? There is no way that a lazy lion with big claws can fix a complicated TV“ Lion: "No problem. Do you want to try it?"
The lion goes into his cave, and after a while comes back with a perfectly fixed TV. The wolf goes away happily and amazed.
Scene : Inside the lion's cave. In one corner are half a dozen small and intelligent looking rabbits who are busy doing very complicated work with very detailed instruments. In the other corner lies a huge lion looking very pleased with himself.

Moral of Story : IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY A MANAGER IS FAMOUS; LOOK AT THE WORK OF HIS SUBORDINATES.

Management Lesson : In the context of the working world : IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY SOMEONE UNDESERVED IS PROMOTED; LOOK AT THE WORK OF HIS SUBORDINATES.

MANAGERIAL TECHNIQUES FOR COORDINATION

Coordination would be easier if some of the techniques mentioned below are used by management:

1.Use of work manuals
2.Streamlining systems and procedures
3.Well organized group structure
4.Good information and feedback system
5.Code of conduct and discipline

ESTABLISHING BUSINESS NETWORK

Human factor is very dominant in the business. The owner or the entrepreneur who conceives and implements business is human. It is only human being who can think of business. Since it is the exchange of goods and services for value, a number of persons are needed to make it a success. We require suppliers; business facilitators such as bankers, venture capitalists, insurance companies, transport companies, packers; legal authorities; workers and managers, distributors and dealers, customers, beneficiaries and all constituents of the supply chain (of which we will speak later on), and people providing us with opportunities and threats. Thus, in business we deal with a great majority of people than only those directly controlled by organization and most of these are outside the organization. Relations with them and their co-operation will decide the outcome of business. Even a rikshawala (auto three wheeler driver) depends on petrol dealers, tire shops, loaning institutions extending loans, rickshaw dealers, garage mechanics, rikshaw passing authorities, customers.
Thus, business requires very wide public relation. These relations are to be networked so that they can individually and collectively involve a businessman (in this case, the rikshawala). Thus, the business involves relationship with a number of people and the more networked one is, better is one's business. AManager, therefore, has to establish a business network of people. Since management is working for business, it has to create and work within the ambit of a business network.

Uncertainty and Risks

One of the main feature of business is uncertainity

The ultimate success of business depends upon the customers who are willing to use their purchasing power to meet their needs, and competitive and alternating suppliers available in the market. Most of these factors are outside business organization and more directed by situational factors. This situation is further complicated by the fact that the supplier has to keep his products and serviceability ready to offer when an opportunity arises. It necessarily means that he has to act in anticipation of sales. It involves risk taking since he is not sure whether his goods will be sold or services will be accepted. Take the small business of a cobbler. He keeps his instruments ready along with leather pieces so that any time a customer walks in for shoe repair he gets a ready service. He invests in space, time, equipment and skills first and then he can expect to get some business. All these decisions which he has taken to invest may prove a risk and he may not get any return.

Business is done with uncertainties and risks. Technological change such as use of canvass shoes instead of leather ones, may not give him the same scope to repair, and with this change his business may shrink. He can only forecast business but is never assured of its outcom

Business and economic development

We are so much engrossed in the relation
ofbusiness and profits that we neglect the maj or part it plays in economic development.
It is found that countries that have a good business class contribute to development
of a country. Business adds not only to the economic development but it renders
social services making living more tolerable. Business involves value addition at every
stage of working. It has to add value to make money. Thus, it is constantly looking for
bettering its goods and services and converting its value to price. This it does by
producing new goods and services, in terms of time and areas. Umbrellas are
manufactured the whole year and then made available in rainy season. Business,
makes apples in Kashmir available in Mumbai by creating the need of packing services
and transportation. Thus, business adds to utility and its value.
Business locates human needs and then marches to service it through production and distribution of goods and services. Take a neighbourhood grocery store that collects many items from different sources, and then make it available at one place. Imagine what running around and cost would have been involved, if we had to go to manufacturer of these one by one to satisfy one's needs.

Another aspect we must appreciate is that each of the business activity provides employment. Increase in business leads, adds to increase in an organization, and increase in organizations needs increase in managerial personnel. Business requires resource mobilization such as money, people, equipment etc. and thus work for developing these resources. Through mobilizing resources, it also adds to economic development.

DATA BASE MANAGEMENT

Many techniques have evolved for managing data bases in direct access storage. Such techniques are used by programmers as they attempt to minimize processing time or storage space required, or sometimes to maximize flexibility. In earlier days, these techniques were used by the customer’s application programmer.
During the past decade there has been a significant move by hardware and software manufacturers toward embedding these techniques into a component os systems software. This component is now quite widely referred do as a “data base management system”, or DBMS.
So a DBMS is a piece of software, as mentioned above. Some vendors regard it as being part of the operating system; others build it in such a way that it is very much an optimal extra for which the customer must pay if he decides to use it. It must be emphasized that the reason for identifying DBMS as a piece of software is to avoid any confusion that may arise with what might be called an “integrated management information system”, or IMIS. As IMIS uses a DBMS. An IMIS comprises human components, appropriate administrative procedures, and application programs, which collectively provide information to management and to others. Many will argue that as IMIS is not possible without a DBMS. A management information system may be completely manual, but the degree to which one could achieve integration is likely to be modest.

Entrepreneur

The entrepreneurial plan or vision, the recognition of a need which is being unfulfilled and which could be fulfilled to the profit of the entrepreneur and to everyone else's benefit as well, had also better come under the general head of invention. Kosnik realizes that those who will be the great managers and leaders will embody not only the technical tasks but an understanding of the importance of the human side of the enterprise. He knows that greatness is much more than technique or skill. Thus, the elements of integrity, core values, unrelenting optimism, and contribution to society play as a large a role in Kosnick's repertoire as the quantitative topics. He manages to blend both worlds with the finesse of a symphony conductor.

Memorandum on Enlightened Management

It was found, for instance, in Jim Clark's studies or in many of the studies quoted in theLikert book that one department was doing better economically than another department, that is, it had a higher production rate or it had less turnover or it had better morale or something of this sort, and the experiment was made in order to find out what factors were responsible for this economic superiority. What was found in practically all of these cases was that a particular kind of foreman or supervisor-manager was responsible for the economic superiority of the working group. And the qualities of the superior managers have been worked out, i.e., they are more democratic, more compassionate, more friendly, more helpful, more loyal, etc. That is, the whole thing has been done pragmatically, rather than on a priori, moral, or ethical or political grounds. A certain kind of democratic manager makes more profit for the firm as well as making everybody happier and healthier. What is true of the behavior and attitudes of these pragmatically superior supervisors should be copied or forced upon the pragmatically inferior supervisors, even if this is not their spontaneous self-choice.

Maslow's Theory Z

Theory Z presupposed that people, once having reached a level of economic security,
would strive for a life steeped in values, a work life where the person would be able to
create and produce. The March 1998 cover story in FORTUNE magazine is but one example of Maslow's Theory Z in action. Entitled Yo, Corporate America-I'm the New Organization Man, the article depicted the wants and needs of the new "gold collar worker." Expecting to be well paid, this generation also believes they are entitled to a job "that fun, a job that's cool, a job that lets them discover who they really are." Work is not about paying the rent anymore-it about self-fulfillment. "Work is not work. It's a hobby you happen to get paid for."

Enlightened Economics and Management

1. Assume everyone is to be trusted. It assumes that the people selected for the particular plant are a fairly evolved type of person, relatively mature, relatively healthy, and relatively decent.
2. Assume everyone is to be informed as completely as possible of as many facts and truths as possible.
3. Assume in all your people the impulse to achieve; assume that they are for good
workmanship, are against wasting time and inefficiency and want to do a good job,
etc.
4. Assume that there is no dominance-subordination hierarchy in the jungle sense or
authoritarian sense. There must be an ability to identify with a fairly wide circle of human beings, ideally with the whole human species. The ultimate authoritarian can identify with nobody or perhaps at best with his own blood family. Authoritarians must be excluded or they must be
converted.
5. Assume that everyone will have the same ultimate managerial objectives and will
identify with them no matter where they are in the organization or in the hierarchy.
What is best for the solution of the problem or the effectuation of the goal rather than what is
best for my ego, or my own person?"
6. Enlightened economics must assume good will among all the members of the
organization rather than rivalry or jealousy.

Maslow's Management

Douglas McGregor wrote The Human Side of Enterprise in 1960. He quickly became know
as the father of Theory X and Theory Y-theories of managerial leadership that portrayed
managers as authoritarian (Theory X) or as collaborative and trustful of people (Theory Y).
1. Do you believe that people are trustworthy?
2. Do you believe that people seek responsibility and accountability?
3. Do you believe that people seek meaning in their work?
4. Do you believe that people naturally want to learn?
5. Do you believe that people don't resist change but they resist being changed?
6. Do you believe that people prefer work to being idle?
Real achievement means inevitably a worthy and virtuous task. To do some idiotic job very
well is certainly not real achievement. I like my phrasing, "What is not worth doing is not
worth doing well."

Golden Management Rules

Lets see more on food service industry management rules which are always considered as golden management rules

1. Average means you’re either best of the worst, or worst of the best.

2. Employees are our fist market. Never treat a customer better than you treat an employee.

3. You can have the best product in the world, but if you can’t sell it, you still got it. Train your team to get better at menu merchandising.

4. Good service means never having to ask for anything.

5. All behavior is the result of consequences: you get what you reward.

6. Use the “Sullivan Nod”: if servers smile and slowly nod their heads when suggesting a drink, appetizers or desserts the customer always nods back and say “yes”.

7. Recruiting doesn’t end when you hire someone. You recruit your employees daily.

8. If someone tells you it’s the principle of the thing and not the money…it is the money.

9. In the business, you can always tell when it’s a full moon without ever looking outside.

10. Tools left in the toolbox never built anything.

11. One definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results.

12. High performers hate working with low performers. Groom’em or Broom’em.

13. You can tell how good the restaurant leadership is by how the people act when the manager isn’t there.

14. Teach everyone something new every shift: 1 step by 100 people are better than 100 steps by one person.

15. The restaurant business is a free circus everyday. All you have to do is pay attention.

JOB EVALUATION

Another topic of Management i.e Job Evaluation Lets see what it is?

Job evaluation means determining the relative worth of a job in an organization by comparing it with other jobs within an organization and with job market outside jobs are evaluated on the basis of their content and are placed in the order of their importance. In this way, job evaluation helps in establishing job hierarchy. It is a process by which jobs in an organization are appraised. It suggests comparative importance of different jobs. A wage structure hierarchy is based on such job evaluation.
In job evaluation the jobs are ranked on the basis of their relative importance and not the job holders. They are rated through performance appraisal. Job evaluation is the output provided through job analysis.

Features:
1. It determines the relative worth of jobs in an organization. Jobs are evaluated as per their content and place in the order of their importance.
2. It is based on the analysis of the facts about the job collected through job analysis.
3. It helps to bring a balanced wage structure in an organization. This is possible as job hierarchy is established. The purpose is fixation of satisfactory wage differentials among various jobs.

FRINGE BENEFITS

What is FRINGE BENEFITS lets see..

Fringe benefits may be defined as wide range of benefits and services that employees receive as an integral part of their total compensation package. They are based on critical job factors and performance. Fringe benefits constitute indirect compensation as they are usually extended as a condition of employment and not directly related to performance of concerned employee. Fringe benefits are supplements to regular wages received by the workers at a cost of employers. They include benefits such as paid vacation, pension, health and insurance plans, etc. Such benefits are computable in terms of money and the amount of benefit is generally not predetermined.

The purpose of fringe benefits is to retain efficient and capable people in the organisation over a long period. They foster loyalty and acts as a security base for the employees.

Managing Financial Paperwork

In addition to general data management issues, there are other financial records whose management you need to systematize. These will improve the security and stability of your business as well as help you meet the requirements of the IRS. You’ll have others specific to your business and the market you serve, but here are some general guidelines:

•Keep copies of your business tax returns in a special file forever. Retain all tax-related documents for at least seven years.
•Maintain a file of capital equipment expenses (computers, manufacturing equipment, office equipment, and so forth) forever.
•Make and maintain copes of any legal documents (commercial leases, contracts and so forth) in one place.
•On a regular basis, back up on floppy or removable disks any financial records you maintain on your computer. Remember, there are only two types of people: those who’ve lost data, and those who will. Don’t learn the hard way. Also, make a duplicate backup disk and store it in your safe deposit box or other secure off-site location. Replace the stored disk with an updated version on a regular basis.
•Keep your invoice file up to date.
•Establish a central location for storing regular financial reports regarding your business, to chart your business growth over time.
•When it’s time to purge financial records, use a shredder. Compact shredders that perch over standard office wastebaskets are about $100 and are a wise investment for maintaining business security.

CRM Purpose

The overall purpose of CRM is to improve marketing productivity and enhance value for parties in involved in the relationship. By seeking and achieving operational goals, such as lower distribution costs, streamlining order processing and inventory management, reducing the burden of excessive customer acquisition cost, and through customer retention economics, firms could achieve greater marketing efficiencies. They can enhance marketing effectiveness by carefully selecting, customers for its various programs, individualizing and personalizing their market offerings to anticipate and serve the emerging needs of individual customer, building customer loyalty and commitment, partnering to enter new markets and develop new products, and redefining the competitive playing field for their company. Thus, stating the objectives and defining the purpose of CRM in a company helps clarify the nature of CRM programs and activities that ought to be performed by the partners. Defining the purpose would also help in identifying suitable relationship partners who have necessary expectations and capabilities to fulfill mutual goals. It will further help in evaluating CRM performance by comparing results achieved against objectives. These objectives could be specified as financial goals, marketing goals, strategic goals, operational goals, and general goals.

Customers are motivated to engage in relational behavior because of psychological and sociological benefits associated with reduction in choice decisions. In addition, to their natural inclination of reducing choices, consumers are motivated to seek the rewards and benefits associated with CRM programs.
Relational Parties. In the Initial phase, a company has to decide which customer type and specific customers or customer groups will be the focus of their CRM activities.

CRM strategies

Several commercial CRM software packages are available, and they vary in their approach to CRM. However, as mentioned above, CRM is not just a technology but rather a comprehensive, customer-centric approach to an organization's philosophy of dealing with its customers. This includes policies and processes, front-of-house customer service, employee training, marketing, systems and information management. Hence, it is important that any CRM implementation considerations stretch beyond technology toward the broader organizational requirements.

The objectives of a CRM strategy must consider a company’s specific situation and its customers' needs and expectations. Information gained through CRM initiatives can support the development of marketing strategy by developing the organization's knowledge in areas such as identifying customer segments, improving customer retention, improving product offerings (by better understanding customer needs), and by identifying the organization's most profitable customers.

CRM strategies can vary in size, complexity, and scope. Some companies consider a CRM strategy only to focus on the management of a team of salespeople. However, other CRM strategies can cover customer interaction across the entire organization. Many commercial CRM software packages that are available provide features that serve the sales, marketing, event management, project management, and finance industries.

Customer Relationship Management

Customer relationship management (CRM) is a term applied to processes implemented by a company to handle its contact with its customers. CRM software is used to support these processes, storing information on current and prospective customers. Information in the system can be accessed and entered by employees in different departments, such as sales, marketing, customer service, training, professional development, performance management, human resource development, and compensation. Details on any customer contacts can also be stored in the system. The rationale behind this approach is to improve services provided directly to customers and to use the information in the system for targeted marketing and sales purposes.

While the term is generally used to refer to a software-based approach to handling customer relationships, most CRM software vendors stress that a successful CRM strategy requires a holistic approach. CRM initiatives often fail because implementation was limited to software installation without providing the appropriate motivations for employees to learn, provide input, and take full advantage of the information systems.

Service Management

Service Management is integrated into Supply Chain Management as the joint between the actual sales and the customer. The aim of high performance Service Management is to optimize the service-intensive supply chains, which are usually more complex than the typical finished-goods supply chain. Most service-intensive supply chains require larger inventories and tighter integration with field service and third parties. They also must accommodate inconsistent and uncertain demand by establishing more advanced information and product flows. Moreover, all processes must be coordinated across numerous service locations with large numbers of parts and multiple levels in the supply chain.

Biggest Management Lesson

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

Management Lessons:
1. Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy.
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3. When you're in deep shit, keep your mouth shut!

Management Simplified

When the body was first made, all the parts wanted to be Boss. The brain said,
"I should be Boss because I control the whole body's responses and functions."
The feet said, “We should be Boss as we carry the brain about and get him to where he wants to go."
The hands said, "We should be the Boss because we do all the work and earn all the money."
And so it went on and on with the heart, the lungs and the eyes until finally the asshole spoke up. All the parts laughed at the idea of the asshole being the Boss. So the asshole went on strike, blocked itself up and refused to work. Within a short time the eyes became crossed, the hands clenched, the feet twitched, the heart and lungs began to panic and the brain fevered. Eventually they all decided that the asshole should be the Boss, so the motion was passed. All the other parts did all the work while the Boss just sat and passed out the shit!
Management Lesson: You don't need brains to be Boss, any asshole will do!

Lesson Number Two
A turkey was chatting with a bull.
"I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy.
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
Management Lesson: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Management Lessons 1

Lesson Number One
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day.
A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"
The crow answered: "Sure, why not."
So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.
Management Lesson: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Techniques to Manage Time

There never seems to be enough time in the roles of management and supervision. Therefore, the goal of time management should not be to find more time. The goal is set a reasonable amount of time to spend on these roles and then use that time wisely.
1. Start with the simple techniques of stress management above.
2. Managing time takes practice. Practice asking yourself this question throughout the day: "Is this what I want or need to be doing right now?" If yes, then keep doing it.
3. Find some way to realistically and practically analyze your time. Logging your time for a week in 15-minute intervals is not that hard and does not take up that much time. Do it for a week and review your results.
4. Do a "todo" list for your day. Do it at the end of the previous day. Mark items as "A" and "B" in priority. Set aside two hours right away each day to do the important "A" items and then do the "B" items in the afternoon. Let your answering machine take your calls during your "A" time.
5. At the end of your day, spend five minutes cleaning up your space. Use this time, too, to organize your space, including your desktop. That'll give you a clean start for the next day.
6. Learn the difference between "Where can I help?" and "Where am I really needed?" Experienced leaders learn that the last question is much more important than the former.
7. Learn the difference between "Do I need to do this now?" and "Do I need to do this at all?" Experienced leaders learn how to quickly answer this question when faced with a new task.
8. Delegate. Delegation shows up as a frequent suggestion in this guide because it is one of the most important skills for a leader to have. Effective delegation will free up a great deal of time for you.
9. If you are CEO in a corporation, then ask your Board for help. They are responsible to supervise you, as a CEO. Although the Board should not be micro-managing you, that is, involved in the day-to-day activities of the corporation, they still might have some ideas to help you with your time management. Remember, too, that good time management comes from good planning, and the Board is responsible to oversee development of major plans. Thus, the Board may be able to help you by doing a better themselves in their responsibilities as planners for the organization.
10. Use a "Do Not Disturb" sign! During the early part of the day, when you're attending to your important items (your "A" list), hang this sign on the doorknob outside your door.

Techniques to Manage Stress

There are lots of things people can do to cut down on stress. Most people probably even know what they could do. It's not the lack of knowing what to do in order to cut down stress; it is doing what you know you have to do. The following techniques are geared to help you do what you know you have to do.
1. Talk to someone. You don't have to fix the problem, just report it.
2. Notice if any of the muscles in your body are tense. Just noticing that will often relax the muscle.
3. Ask your boss if you're doing OK. This simple question can make a lot of difference and verify wrong impressions.
4. Delegate.
5. If you take on a technique to manage stress, tell someone else. They can help you be accountable to them and yourself.
6. Cut down on caffeine and sweets. Take a walk instead. Tell someone that you're going to do that.
7. Use basic techniques of planning, problem solving and decision making.
Concise guidelines are included in this guidebook. Tell someone that you're going to use these techniques.
8. Monitor the number of hours that you work in a week. Tell your boss, family and/or friends how many hours that you are working.
9. Write weekly status reports. Include what you've accomplished last week and plan to do next week. Include any current issues or recommendations that you must report to your boss. Give the written status report to your boss on a weekly basis.
10. "Wash the dishes". Do something you can feel good about.

Principles of Good Stress and Time Management

Wise Principles of Good Stress and Time Management
1. Learn your signs for being overstressed or having a time management problem. Ask your friends about you. Perhaps they can tell you what they see from you when you're overstressed.
2. Most people feel that they are stressed and/or have a time management problem. Verify that you really have a problem. What do you see, hear or feel that leads you to conclude that you have a time or stress problem?
3. Don't have the illusion that doing more will make you happier. Is it quantity of time that you want, or quality?
4. Stress and time management problems have many causes and usually require more than one technique to fix. You don't need a lot of techniques, usually more than one, but not a lot.
5. One of the major benefits of doing time planning is feeling that you're in control.
6. Focus on results, not on busyness.
7. It's the trying that counts - at least as much as doing the perfect technique.

Myths About Stress and Time Management

Myth #1: All stress is bad. No, there's good and bad stress. Good stress is excitement, thrills, etc. The goal is to recognize personal signs of bad stress and deal with them.
Myth #2: Planning my time just takes more time. Actually, research shows the opposite.
Myth #3: I get more done in more time when I wisely use caffeine, sugar, alcohol or nicotine. Wrong! Research shows that the body always has to "come down" and when it does, you can't always be very effective then after the boost.
Myth #4: A time management problem means that there's not enough time to get done what needs to get done. No, a time management problem is not using your time to your fullest advantage, to get done what you want done.
Myth #5: The busier I am, the better I'm using my time. Look out! You may only be doing what's urgent, and not what's important.
Myth #6: I feel very harried, busy, so I must have a time management problem. Not necessarily. You should verify that you have a time management problem. This requires knowing what you really want to get done and if it is getting done or not.
Myth #7: I feel OK, so I must not be stressed. In reality, many adults don't even know when they're really stressed out until their bodies tell them so. They miss the early warning signs from their body, for example, headaches, still backs, twitches, etc.
Major Causes of Workplace Stress
1. Not knowing what you want or if you're getting it - poor planning.
2. The feeling that there's too much to do. One can have this feeling even if there's hardly anything to do at all.
3. Not enjoying your job. This can be caused by lots of things, for example, not knowing what you want, not eating well, etc. However, most people always blame their jobs.
4. Conflicting demands on the job.
5. Insufficient resources to do the job.
6. Not feeling appreciated.

Time and Stress Management

The role of leader can be very stressful! Management studies have suggested that these roles include a very wide mix of activities, most of which cannot always be controlled or even predicted.
New managers and supervisors - especially supervisors - are almost overwhelmed with the demands of the job. They were probably promoted to be in charge of people, mostly because of their success in a previous role that was focused on developing a particular product or service. Suddenly, they're faced with being in charge of people, which is much less predictable and has much less control than the supervisor had before. Consequently, the ability to manage time and stress is absolutely critical to the success of the roles of manager and leader.

Scouting the terrain

What companies believe to be the nature of the marketplace is likely to influence thir strategic business plans. The same can be said of businesses that use issues monitoring to access the public policy environment. Greater sophistication has been used in an effort to refine strategic management information systems. In addition to straightforward polls and surveys, futurists, for example, have used social scientific techniques to offer valuable insights into the ways issues can be identified, monitored and analyzed. The key to making this activity effective is understanding a corporation’s culture, its organizational and political structures and the nature of public policy issues analysis. Companies can then determine what issues to monitor and analyse as they refine their public policy and strategic plans. This process requires more than periodic public opinion surveys.

Issues management

Issues management has been around for almost 30 years, but while it has been adopted by some major corporations a powerful strategic planning tool, it has not affected the widespread attention we believe it deserves.

In the mid-1970s, an atmosphere of increased hostility towards corporations led business communicators to rethink the role of corporate communication. The groundswell of public suspicion about private sector management was reflected through two trends. While some 40 years ago public opinion surveys reflected a clear majority in favour of the practices of business management (an 85 per cent score was typical), 35 years on that figure had slumped to around 10—15 per cent. During the same period companies, increasing subject to criticism, hired public opposition. Budgets grew tenfold, running into billions of dollars annually, but this did nothing to stop the decline of public support for corporate enterprise.

Issues management was an attempt to define the strategies that companies needed to use to counter the efforts of activist groups which were putting pressure on legislators for stricter controls of business activity. ‘Despite the billions of dollars companies ad their associations have spent on external relations business in general has been ineffective in defining and then validating its position on public policy issues’ (Jones and Chase, 1979). So, a new area of corporate communication emerged—issues management was first implemented as a way in which companies could deal with their critics.

Quality Management

A quality management principle is a comprehensive and fundamental rule or belief, for leading and operating an organisation, aimed at continually improving performance over the long term by focusing on customers while addressing the needs of all other stakeholders.

Principle 2 — Leadership
Principle 3 — Involvement of People
Principle 4 — Process Approach
Principle 5 — System Approach to Management
Principle 6 — Continual Improvemen
Principle 7 — Factual approach to decision making
Principle 8 — Mutually beneficial supplier relationships

Brainstorming

Brainstorming is a very good concept and technique to get a solution to aproblem and to innovates something new.
Brainstorming combines a relaxed, informal approach to problem-solving with lateral thinking. It asks that people come up with ideas and thoughts that can at first seem to be a bit crazy. The idea here is that some of these ideas can be crafted into original, creative solutions to the problem you're trying to solve, while others can spark still more ideas. This approach aims to get people unstuck, by "jolting" them out of their normal ways of thinking.

During brainstorming sessions there should therefore be no criticism of ideas: You are trying to open up possibilities and break down wrong assumptions about the limits of the problem. Judgments and analysis at this stage stunt idea generation.

Ideas should only be evaluated at the end of the brainstorming session – this is the time to explore solutions further using conventional approaches.

Self-management techniques allow people to modify their own behavior. Self-management is not a specific, unitary intervention, but rather a collection of techniques. These techniques range from a person simply making a commitment to change to completely designing and implementing an intervention. Regardless of the specific elements, all self-management techniques are implemented to help people control their own behavior with less reliance on outside behavior-change agents. Once learned, self-management techniques can then be applied to a wide variety of everyday behaviors.

Human Resource Planning?

Human resource planning identifies the existing status of human resources in the organization and then attempts to match demand and supply so as to make them compatible with the fulfillment of the organizational future needs.

Human resource planning is the process by which an organization ensures that it has the right number and right quality of people, at the right place, at the right time capable of effectively and efficiently completing those tasks that will help the organization in achieving its overall objectives.

Human resource planning helps to provide adequate human resources to achieve current and future organizational objectives. It is most directly related to recruitment, selection, training and promotion. By matching employment supply and demand, the organization can know how many persons of what quality it needs to fill from within.
The actual human resource management starts with the estimation of the number and the type of people needed. The human resource management process never stops. It is an ongoing process that tries to keep the organization supplied with the right positions at the right time. Human resources planning are a sub-system of this process.

Potential Appraisal??

In making potential appraisal of managers, levels of talent and ambition have to be clearly identified. It should be remembered that there are limits beyond which any individual employee will be over-stretched and likely to succeed. Doing the present job exceedingly well is no indicator of assured success in a higher job. Some employees are cutout for specific jobs. They are happy doing such jobs. Promoting them without assessing their potential may be a lose-lose situation for the organizations. Potential refers to the abilities but not currently utilized. It is the latent capacity to discharge higher responsibilities in future roles. For example all good salesman cannot be promoted as sales supervisors. In the absence of a potential assessment, the organization may lose an ace salesman and get poor sales supervisor.

Main objective of Potential Appraisal are as follows: -

To assess an individual in terms of the highest level of work the individual will be able to handle comfortable and successfully in future without being over-stretched.
To assist the organization in discharging its responsibility of selecting and developing managers for the future to ensure continuous growth of the organization.

360-degree appraisal

Many times I have heard this word 360-degree and all those fro my HR department so i thought I should find out what is the meaning of it and what does it mean in actual sense

The performance feedback method known as 360-degree feedback has gained wide popularity in the corporate world to the point of being nearly universal among Fortune 500 companies. A 360-degree feedback program enables organizational members to receive feedback on their performance, usually anonymously, from all the major constituencies they serve. Unlike the traditional approach to performance counseling, the 360-degree feedback concept does not rely solely on the supervisor as the source of information. Instead. It enlists superiors, peers, subordinates, suppliers, and customers in providing individuals with feedback on different aspects of their performance. Feedback recipients can also rate their own performance and compare it with feedback provided by others.
360 Degree Appraisal is basically Multi-Rater Appraisal and Feedback Systems, where an individual is assessed by a number of assesses including superiors, subordinates, peers, internal customers and external customers. In this system a candidate is assessed periodically normally once a year but some times even half yearly. The assessment is made on questionnaire specially designed to measure behaviors considered as critical for performance. The concerned person does the appraisal anonymously and official of the HRD department collects the assessment. The assessment is consolidated and feedback profiles are prepared and given to the participants after a workshop or directly by his boss or the HRD department in performance review discussion session. Due to innumerable variations possible 360 Degree Feedback and appraisals, and its potency as a competency identification and development tool it is important to understand the process and its dynamics.

Performance Appraisal

What is Performance apprisal ??? Lets see

Performance Appraisal is a formal exercise in which an organization makes an evaluation form, of its employees, in terms of contributions made towards achieving organizational objectives and / or their personal strengths and weaknesses, and in terms of attributes and behaviors demonstrated for meeting whatever objective the originations may consider relevant. It is the process of evaluating the performance of employees in terms of job requirements. It is the systematic evaluation of the individual with respect to his performance on the job and his potential for development.

According to Dale Yoder, “ Performance appraisal refers to all formal procedures used in working organizations to evaluate personalities and contributions and potentials of group members.”

In the performance appraisal systems there is scope to identify the difference between the organization’s expectations and the individual’s performance. Area relating to knowledge, skills, attitude and behavior on the job, which need change, can be specifically assessed in the systems. The identification comes from the employee himself or out of a discussion between the employee and senior who prepare the appraisal.

The main objectives of the performance appraisal are as follows: -

1.To enable each employee to understand his role better and become more effective on the job.

This enables the superiors and the subordinate to jointly try to solve their problems for better accomplishment of tasks.
6.To provide an opportunity to the employee for introspection, self-evaluation and goal setting so that he remains on the path of development.
7.To enable every employee to internalize the norms and values of the organizations so that an organizational identity on the path of development.
8.To prepare employees for higher jobs by continuously reinforcing development of behavior and qualities for these higher-level positions.
9.To be an instrument for creating a positive and healthy climate in the organization that moves people to give their best and enjoy doing so.
10.To help in a variety of personnel decisions by generating relevant data on each employee periodically.
11.To maintain a record of each employee’s performance for the purpose of determining the wage structure, salary level and compensation package.
